EPICA is an extra large underground map for Shadow of Death, spanning 144 by 144 tiles at Impossible difficulty. Eight players are placed, but only one can be human, and the other seven are computer-controlled and split into two teams. The objectives centre on uniting the lands of Elandia, searching for a missing brother and a particular armour, defeating a cult's armies, and then slaying a dragon lord. Castle, Rampart, Stronghold, Tower, Dungeon, Fortress, Inferno, and Necropolis are all in play. Rock covers about thirty percent of the terrain and water seventeen percent. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and the game is lost if the hero K'Takou falls. Notable features include the Grail, 29 towns, 66 mines, and nine Thunderbird stacks roaming the map.
