Six players share the field in three teams, but only two can be human, and the other four colors are computer-controlled. Factions include Rampart, Castle, Necropolis, and random picks, and the author recommends starting with Rampart or Castle. The map holds 23 towns, 56 mines, and 12 heroes, with roaming stacks such as Crusaders, Champions, and Royal Griffins, along with 10 creature banks and 14 monoliths and portals. Players can also find the Grail and artifacts such as the Crown of the Supreme Magi and the Dragon Scale Shield. A player loses by losing all towns and heroes. Water covers about eleven percent of the terrain.
