Devil Rising is a medium 72x72 map for Shadow of Death that includes an underground level, rated hard. Five colors are placed, with Red controlled by the computer only, so up to four human players can take part, and there are no fixed teams. The factions are Inferno for Red, Tower for Blue, Fortress for Green, Castle for Orange, and Rampart for Purple. Victory requires capturing a specific town, while a player is eliminated once all their towns and heroes are lost. Rock, water, and lava make up most of the terrain, with grass covering a smaller share. The map is well stocked, with eleven towns, fifty mines, and a Grail, along with wandering monsters such as Familiars, Cerberus, and Pit Lords, plus many placed artifacts and dwellings.
