Dark Times — RoE
Overview
Written from the facts in this map's file
Dark Times is a medium 72 by 72 map with underground levels, rated hard and built for Restoration of Erathia. Four players take part, but only one can be human, and the other three are computer-controlled. There are no teams. Castle, Dungeon, Stronghold, and Inferno are each assigned to a color. The aim is to drive a spreading corruption out of the land of Haranroth. Victory comes from capturing one specific town, and a player is defeated once all their towns and heroes are lost. Rock and dirt cover most of the terrain, with subterranean ground and a small share of water. The map holds the Grail, 31 mines, 36 random monster stacks, and several placed artifacts, including the Talisman of Mana and Boots of Levitation.
