Blood of the Dragon is an extra-large underground map for In the Wake of Gods, measuring 144 by 144 tiles, and it is set to Impossible difficulty. Eight players each take a different faction, with one human slot per player and no teams, so every side fights for itself. The terrain is mostly lava, snow, swamp, and rough ground, with no water. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses once all of their towns and heroes are gone. The map holds forty towns and a large number of guarded sites, including creature banks, monoliths and portals, and quest guards. Wandering stacks of devils and ghost dragons are common, and dwellings offer strong creatures such as pit fiends and efreets. A Shield of the Dwarven Lords is placed on the map, and the author's description points to a search for the Grail-like vial the title refers to.
