BattleCross is a medium 72 by 72 map for two players, with two human seats and no computer-only colors, and it includes an underground level. Both players start with random factions, and there are no teams. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing all towns and heroes. The author describes closed-in areas, garrisons holding angels, zealots, crusaders and champions, and an underground maze with many traps. The map holds five towns, a few dragons and two Ancient Behemoth stacks roaming the surface, along with 69 random monster stacks.
