Battle of the Gods is a small Shadow of Death map on a 36 by 36 grid, with an underground level and an Expert difficulty rating. Eight players share the field, two of them human at most, and six colors are reserved for the computer. The players form four teams, and the factions are split between Inferno and Castle. Victory requires acquiring the Angel Wings artifact, and the game is lost if the time limit of 28 days runs out. Terrain is mostly grass and subterranean ground, with some rock and no water. Eight towns, four starting heroes, and 64 mines are spread across the map, which also holds the Grail and a range of placed artifacts. Wandering stacks of strong creatures such as Titans, Black Dragons, and Chaos Hydras roam the land, and several timed events add pressure.
