Aurea Mediocritas — SoD

Aurea Mediocritas is an extra large 144 by 144 map for eight players, all of whom can be human, with no teams and no computer-only colors. It includes an underground level and is rated hard. Each player takes a different town type, covering Castle, Tower, Rampart, Inferno, Necropolis, Dungeon, Fortress, and Stronghold. Victory requires defeating all enemies, while a player loses once all towns and heroes are gone. Rock covers roughly two fifths of the land, with water around a fifth and subterranean ground a smaller share. The map holds twelve towns, forty-seven mines, and nine creature banks, along with about 186 random monster stacks. Wandering Titans, Archangels, and Black Dragons are among the stronger roaming forces, and the artifacts placed include Armageddon's Blade and the Bow of Elven Cherrywood.
