The Last Hope is a large underground map of 108 by 108 tiles for Shadow of Death, rated Expert. Eight players share the valley, with up to six controlled by humans, while the Red and Tan players are computer-only. Each color fields a different town type, from Inferno and Castle to Dungeon and Fortress, and the players form two teams. The story has the rulers, who had been feuding, uniting against invaders who are taking city after city. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The terrain is mostly rock and grass, with some sand, rough ground and a little water. Twenty towns, 70 mines, 26 creature banks and 11 monoliths or portals are spread across it, along with the Grail, the Clover of Fortune and Titan's Thunder.
