Five players take part, with one human seat and four computer-controlled colors, split into two teams. The factions include Rampart, Castle, Necropolis, and several Fortress players. Rock and swamp make up most of the terrain, water covers about 17 percent, and grass accounts for only a small share. The map contains 14 towns, 39 mines, 50 creature banks, and 10 monoliths and portals, plus artifacts such as the Armor of Wonder and the Endless Purse of Gold. Victory requires defeating every enemy, and the game is lost if the timer runs out first, which allows 336 days.
