Eight colors take part, but only one seat can be human, and the seven computer colors are split across two teams. Each color plays a different faction, from Stronghold to Inferno. The story centers on a chosen hero who must defeat the seven enemies along the coastline to restore peace. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and the game is lost if the 336-day limit runs out. Rock covers about a third of the terrain and water about a fifth. The map contains 39 towns, 15 heroes, 126 mines, and 26 creature banks, plus artifacts such as the Crown of the Supreme Magi.
