Rough ground, lava, grass, and water make up most of the terrain, with water covering about a sixth of the map. Victory requires defeating every enemy, while the player loses if a specific hero falls. Among the features are 37 towns, dozens of wandering monster stacks, 58 mines, 13 seer huts, 120 creature banks, and 24 monoliths and portals. Several named artifacts, including the Elixir of Life and endless gold sacks, are placed around the map, and the hero level cap is 50.
