The map is an Extra Large 144x144 surface battlefield for eight players, each controlling one town faction, and all eight seats can be filled by humans. It is set on a continent where rival powers have fought for control for centuries, and the author's description frames it around that long struggle. Water covers about 40 percent of the land, with the rest split among grass, rough, and swamp terrain. Teams are not used, and the difficulty is Impossible. Victory requires defeating all enemies, and a player loses by losing every town and hero. The map is populated with 33 towns, 16 starting heroes, 204 random monster stacks, and eight wandering monster stacks. Among the placed artifacts are the Bird of Perception and Stoic Watchman, and there are 139 mines, five creature banks, and one seer hut.
